Take 15 Minutes To Meditate

Meditation is your secret weapon to stay calm, focused and positive. At the end of a busy day it can be hard to sit still long enough to breathe and quiet your mind, but there are many ways to incorporate meditation into your morning, noon and night routines. Try these 5 tips for a relaxing, re-energizing

1. Get comfortable. Choose a quiet spot and get into a comfortable position. You can sit in a chair with your feet on the ground or on a cushion on the floor. You may want to close your eyes.

2. Start with a few deep breaths. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat a few times.

3. Focus your attention on your breath. As you breathe in, mentally say to yourself “inhaling”. As you exhale, mentally say to yourself “exhaling”. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to your breath.

4. Release any judgments. Meditation is not about clearing your mind, it’s about observing your thoughts. Don’t worry if you can’t stop thinking, it’s normal. Just let your thoughts come and go without attaching to them.

5. Set a timer. Start with 5 minutes and gradually work your way up to 15 or 20 minutes. When you’re finished, sit for a few moments and just observe your breath before slowly getting up. You may not think you have time to meditate, but even meditation you can do anywhere.

If you want to improve your productivity, reduce stress, and live a calmer life, take 15 minutes out of your day to meditate.
