I “CAN” believe it!!! My grandmother (my mother @loissayyid mother; woman on the right) has very , very similar features to this Aborigine woman on the left.
I never called myself African American. I’ve always said “Black” American. And recently I’ve been working on trying to I’ve drop the word “Black” from my vocabulary when describing myself and Melanated people. From time to time I’ll say it, but truth is NO ONE is the color black...obviously! The history and original definition of that word represented EVERYTHING “We aren’t.” And here we are “Labeling” ourselves that, not realizing that we are/have accepted, adapted and conditioned ourselves (while teaching our children) that WE represent something with such a negative narrative!
